When I bought my new Dell laptop, it took over 8 hours to re-install all the programs from my old computer - and that was with the help of a paid geek. I had been backing up regularly to CD but, when I tried to restore the backed up files to my new computer, I found the files were empty. I only thought I had been backing up! I decided I needed a backup program that would let me see and verify my backup files so I bought an EzBackup external USB drive with EzBackup software. Before I had a chance to install it, the new laptop failed and I had to send it back to Dell. They told me they would have to send me a new one.
